Our GR had TPLO surgery and was slightly overweight so we decided to change the dry food we fed her to a "weight control" dry food. After lots of research, we decided that Burns Weight Control Chicken & Oats Adult & Senior Dog Food was the one to try. We feed her exactly the same weight as her old food but as the Burns is 18% less in calories she has lost weight, 1.9KG in 6 weeks. We will increase the amount of food we feed her once she is at her ideal weight and we increase the amount of exercise she has each day. The stated ingredients appear to be healthy & good with few fats and high in fibre and carbs the downside being an increase in the volume off poo!
So why could it be better? The size of the kibble is so small, it would probably suit a small dog (poodle, cockerpoo etc) but a greedy GR? No, it is far too small.
We know have to fed her from a "slow feeder" bowl in 2 separate amounts both morning and evening.
In my opinion "Burns Weight Control Chicken & Oats Adult & Senior Dog Food" is very good, but would be excellent if it was supplied in different kibble sizes for varying sizes of dogs.

This is an excellent product and suits our hungry, weight-challenged, ageing collie. I can't in all honesty comment on the taste because I've never tried it myself but the dog doesn't complain.

Can you feed dogs with pancreatitis the chicken & oats dry food? Which wet food can you mix with it?
In general you want low fat foods for dogs with pancreatitis. Once you find a diet that works then I advise sticking with it as dietary changes can set off an episode of pancreatitis too.
This is a weight control diet so is lower in fat and may be suitable however I cannot guarantee it will be. If you are looking for ideal pancreatitis diets then I recommend Hills I/D low fat dry or wet, or Royal Canin Gastrointestinal low fat diets. Any dietary changes for your dog should be run past your vet though.

Can this be used as continually as normal meals for maintaining weight or is it purely for weight loss?
Burns Weight Control can be used as a maintenance diet. You should follow the feeding guidelines and adjust as necessary to keep your dog the required weight.
