At first I was delighted with this food, although the dogs needed considerably more of it than suggested, the recommended daily amounts only sufficient for a foster dog that needed to go on a strict diet! They have all lost weight on it however & I have had to steadily increase the amounts given.
More worryingly is the more recent inconsistency in the food itself; initially both the chicken & wild fish varieties were lovely & moist, looking & smelling most appetising but lately quite a few of the trays have contained food which is much drier, more crumbly & doesn’t smell as fresh, almost as though it were a bit stale! Kinda annoying as I have just purchased x10 packs of the stuff but I don’t think I’ll be buying any more of it sadly!
(Useful for slimming down a dog that’s overweight maybe but not so good as a daily maintenance diet & I really couldn’t recommend it!)

I have been giving this food to my dog from as soon as she was allowed to eat it. It was origanally bought as there was an older dog too and this could be fed to both of them. Itnhas always been enjoyed

There is a very large quantity of carrot in this mix and it is my dog’s least favourite of the range.

Below are some recent questions we've received regarding Burns Free Range Chicken with Organic Brown Rice Adult & Senior Dog Food, including answers from our team.

I have a 10 year old working lab who has been fed Burns dry food all her life. She is now eating much more slowly and Occasionally appears to ‘think’ about eating. Would it be advisable to mix dry with wet? She’s small, slim and fit her weight 23 kilos.
There can be many possible causes to what you describe. It may be that your dog has a reduced appetite, a small reduction in older age can be normal but if this persists or worsens then I advise seeing your vet to rule out an underlying cause.
If your dog goes to eat but is eating to one side or seems uncomfortable eating then this could be dental pain. Again seeing your vet is ideal to diagnose and treat this, but wet food is a good choice to help reduce the pain when eating with dental problems.

My 16 year old cocker requires protein and phosphates. She enjoyed the content of a couple of your sample packs when we were on holiday; she had gone off her food. What is your protein content a not shown here? The sample was 18%. Have you any lower and without white potato please?
The protein content and ingredients depends on the flavour of food you choose. Below are the full list of ingredients:
