Eurican L4 is a vaccination for injection in dogs. It induces an immune response against 4 strains of Leptospirosis:
- Leptospira interrogans serogroup Canicola serovar Canicola,
- Leptospira interrogans serogroup Icterohaemorrhagiae serovar Icterohaemorrhagiae,
- Leptospira kirschneri serogroup Grippotyphosa serovar Grippotyphosa, and
- Leptospira interrogans serogroup Australis serovar Bratislava.
It can be administered to dogs from 7 weeks of age and is indicated to prevent or reduce; mortality, clinical signs, infection, bacterial excretion, renal carriage and renal lesions caused by the above strains. Onset of immunity is 2 weeks after the second injection of the full primary vaccination course and duration of immunity is at least one year after this second injection.
The product has only just received a positive opinion for initial marketing with the EMA on the 21st February 2023 so it will be a while before it is released onto the veterinary market. We will provide more information on the product when it becomes available.
