Below are some recent questions we've received regarding James Wellbeloved Puppy Dry Food Fish, including answers from our team.
ToffeeLady
Our French bulldog is 9 months old and is currently on James Wellbeloved- Lamb & Rice Junior.
Bowels greatly improved since making the switch from Royal Canin French Bulldog Puppy, however approximately every 10-12 days he'll have soupy diarrhea for maybe 24 hours. We think potentially the lamb is too rich.
We're thinking of switching him to fish based. Do we have to do a gradual transition or can we just switch?
If your dog is intolerant/allergic to one of the ingredients in their current diet then usually the signs (diarrhoea or soft stools) consistently occur each day. If these only occur every 10 to 12 days then this would imply your dog is reacting to soemthing else that is being eaten or that is occuring. This commonly could be something eaten on a walk or a treat, if your dog has a food intolerance then even a small amount can start the signs.
There is no harm trying a different food though if you wish to. It is advised to transition slowly, so 10% of the new feed and 90% of the old feed on day 1. Gradually move this to 100% of the new food by the end of 5 to 7 days. It is important to note that if you wish to determine whether your dog is good on a diet then it must be the ONLY food fed for 6 to 8 weeks. No treats/scavenging during this time. Any even slight dietary addition in this period can set off the allergy and confuse whether the current diet is working.
