We have had big problems with flystrike in our sheep before, but this year we have been applying Crovect every six weeks. I feel confient it's safe because of the clear instructions and safety documents we get with it, and our shearer recommends it.

My unshorn sheep were treated 4 weeks ago. My shearer wants to know when it will be safe for him to shear them so he won't be affected by contact with the previously treated fleece.
One application will give 6-8 weeks protection, this will then need to be repeated if you wish to continue protection. It is best to shear before treating as the product is stored partly in the fleece itself, shearing after treating can lead to loss of the medication and it's effect. It is therefore advised to shear 6 to 8 weeks after application and then re-apply after shearing.

length off time for prevention off blowflie hatch on un shorn sheep until shearing in june. More than one application ?
One application will give 6-8 weeks protection, this will then need to be repeated if you wish to continue protection.
It is best to shear before treating as the product is stored partly in the fleece itself, shearing after treating can lead to loss of the medication and it's effect. If you plan to shear 6 to 8 weeks after application then you will need to reapply anyway so this is fine.

WILL CROVECT KILL MAGGOTS?
Yes, the ingredient within (Cypermethrin) will kill both flies and maggots. If your sheep have active blowfly strike though then this will need treating. Just trying to cover an existing strike with a spray like this will likely not penetrate deep down into the strike lesion. Clipping and cleaning are often required.
The spray works well to coat the area and prevent future strike from occuring.

Hi folks, just purchased some 'Crovect'.
My sheep were sheared on Friday 25th June.
They obviously have very little fleece right now.
Does the fleece need to be a certain minimum length before application of this product.
Using it for treatment & prevention of flystrike.
Yes you can treat recently shorn sheep. It is best to shear before treating as the product is stored partly in the fleece itself, shearing after treating can lead to loss of the medication and it's effect.

Does convect kill fly eggs
Crovect will not kill fly eggs but it will kill adult flies and larvae, which effectively stops the fly life cycle and so prevents against fly strike. Any flies that emerge from eggs will be killed whilst the product is active.

My daughter has 2 pet ryeland sheep how long after use can they be brushed Again
The product is stored in the lanolin of the fleece, but once absorbed it cannot be brushed out. Therefore I would advise waiting up to 48 hours to ensure the product is completely dry before brushing.
